Complimentary Therapist Volunteer
We take a person centred approach to all our support which means each therapy session will be different, however activities will usually include:
-Providing complementary therapies to patients or carers
-Planning treatments for each person, taking treatment aims, individual needs and preferences, comfort, and safety into consideration
-Telling patients, carers and staff about the therapies offered
-Getting the therapy environment ready and clearing up afterwards
-Booking appointments, keeping records of therapy sessions and letting the team know if you’re going on holiday
We hope you’ll volunteer 3 - 6 hours a week, but all our roles are flexible to suit you.
You might not have experience of everything on this list. That’s fine; finding the right person is more important to us than ticking all the boxes. We hope you’ll:
-Have a nationally recognised qualification, membership of a relevant professional association and your own insurance
-Understand and adhere to the relevant professional body’s code of ethics
-Understand the need to adapt therapy to patients with palliative care needs, and have the ability to adjust treatments accordingly
-Be reliable and professional
-Have a warm, friendly, adaptable, caring approach
-Be well-organised and enthusiastic
